Our Italian classes are dynamic and lively. We learn in small groups over a drink in a local pub. Not only are you learning a language, you're also making friends with other likeminded people.

We never make anyone speak Italian in front of the class if they don't want to, and yet in a typical lesson you get plenty of opportunities to speak to each other and practise what we're learning.

There's no pressure, no compulsory homework, no tests, no exams or unnecessary stress. If you're going to learn a new language, this is the way to do it. We have a lovely little area of the pub all to ourselves where it's nice and secluded. You can get a drink from the bar if you want, and parking is free.

We keep the groups really small so it's never overwhelming or intimidating - just a handful of people. If you're going to learn a new language, this really is the nicest way to do it!

Ciao a tutti! I am a native Italian who has always been passionate about languages and travelling and I do believe that being able to speak the language of the place you are visiting makes the whole experience much richer, more authentic and fun.
I started learning English at primary school and went on to studying French and German at high school and then graduated in English and Spanish (language and literature) at university whilst moving to live in London where I have been for the past 16 years. I also left my comfort zone of European languages and attended an Arabic course, which was very interesting and fun, but challenging! Thanks to this course, I know what it means to start a language journey as a beginner!
My experience in teaching ranges from schoolchildren needing a hand with their homework, to university students struggling to pass their exams, to older people wanting to learn or improve a language for business or leisure. Regardless of their age and purpose for learning a language, I always encouraged my students to go beyond the textbooks and grammar exercises, and to have fun communicating. Grammar rules are necessary, but useless if you are afraid to communicate, so don't be shy and let's get talking!

Hi! I qualified as a language teacher back in 2000 and I've been teaching Spanish, French and English ever since! I lived and worked in Spain for several years and learned to love the Spanish language and culture, liking nothing better than helping my fellow native English speakers to appreciate it too.

I've taught my language - and the languages I have learned - to the highly educated and the barely literate, to people in their eighties and toddlers still in nappies,to accomplished linguists and the truIy terrified, and I love adapting what I do to the needs and pace of my learners and watching everyone make progress (at their own speed) towards their personal goals, whether that be mastery or an easy-going hobby.

I firmly believe in lifelong language learning and in my free time I'm trying to improve my (basic) Mandarin Chinese and Italian. I may be fluent and qualified to teach French, Spanish and English, but I am still a beginner learner of Chinese and Italian, so I know how daunting learning a language can be and how important it is that the atmosphere and materials in a class are non-threatening, easily accessible, and thoughtfully designed, and what a difference it makes to have an approachable, understanding teacher.

I am confident that you'll love the experience of learning with Language for Fun.
