Bonjour! Are you looking for a fun, friendly French conversation course?
15 years ago, we started to create a method and materials for adults who wanted a different way to learn a language. People wanted to be able to speak the language rather than read or write it - but they were uncomfortable speaking in front of a class.
We have been teaching French in St Albans and Harpenden with our unique method for over a decade and we love helping learners become confident speakers. We'll have you chatting from day one.
Whether you are a complete beginner or have a degree in French, come and have fun with active learning with like-minded people. Share your own experiences of the country, the lovely language, the diverse culture and of course the cheese and wine!
It can be tricky deciding which level could suit you, so we're always happy to have a no-obligation chat to help you choose. Alternatively, fill in an enquiry on any course and ask for a self-assessment to be emailed to you.
Join at any time of the year - we will help you catch up with one-to-one support to make sure you hit the ground chatting.
What do we offer?
- Fun and relaxed conversation-based lessons focused on communication, not perfection! No exams, no tests or compulsory homework.
- Our classes are created especially for adult learners and follow a carefully structured programme, aimed to grow your confidence in speaking French.
- Small groups
- Free trial class or 30 minute consultation with a teacher via Zoom or telephone in the comfort of your own home.
If you don't find us in time for the start of term, don't worry if the course you fancy has already started - we will help you to catch up.

Hello, I am Maëlle, a French native from Brittany. I have been travelling around the world for a couple of years, then lived in the French Alps for a little while, working in hospitality. At the end of 2020, I moved to England for good until the next adventure ! I have always loved sharing and communicating with people about pretty much everything as long as everyone is happy and enjoying life, like me ! :)
Maria is from Barcelona, Solsona and Menorca but has lived in England for the past twenty-three years. In her professional career she thrived at organising events and managing marketing initiatives for companies in the tourist sector.
Maria is very sociable and she is possibly one of the most known people in St. Albans. As a keen host she loves cooking and having people around her house. She is involved in the community and volunteers at a local homeless centre. Maria lives with her husband, her two children, a couple of Watford footballers and 2 guinea pigs. And most importantly, her house is always your house.
In the past, Maria has had many requests for translation, helping children with Spanish, meeting up friends to help them improve their conversational skills etc, and a couple of years ago she decided to make a living out of it and started teaching Spanish officially. And the rest is history !
Núria graduated in Social Science and has a PhD in International Cooperation. Whilst she always carries with her social values, her professional career is been focused on the cultural and creative industry.
She is a curious mind always ready to learn and enjoys a good conversation (especially if it comes with a glass of wine or green matcha). Núria loves reading, swimming, and is passionate about travelling. Although she sometimes misses the sun and sea of her native Spain she so appreciates and enjoys the green Hertfordshire countryside, the fascinating conservation area of old St Albans and the easy access to the never-ending cultural discoveries and sites of London.
Núria will guide you through the authentic Spanish culture sharing her passion for music, books, cinema and gastronomy. She will be your contact dealing with all the admin issues and will share with Maria the management of the evening license.
Native French speaker Céline is passionate about sharing her love of the French language with others, from GCSE to Advanced learners. Originally from a management background, Céline came to teaching later in life and enjoys helping people gain confidence in using the French language to enhance their experience abroad.
