Make 2021 the year that you have fun learning French!
Do you love France and its language? Do you wish could speak French more confidently?
Would you like to support your children or grandchildren in their language learning? Are you looking for a stimulating and rewarding challenge?
Whether you’d like to learn French from scratch, or 'brush up' for the time when that holiday in France becomes a reality again, or build on what you already know or you’re just a complete Francophile who loves speaking French, this is language learning with a difference.
The emphasis is on COMMUNICATION not perfection!
Classes are online for the present but the intention is always to get back to meeting face-to-face when the situation allows.
- small, friendly groups so everyone feels at ease to join in.
- weekly classes in relaxed local venues.
- focus on communication.
- stress-free learning in structured and effective classes
- all materials provided, with access to follow-up online videos after each session.
You can join at any time. It's a good idea to come and try a taster class (they're online at present). Courses may begin online, but will return to face-to-face as soon as allowed. If you're not sure which level would suit you contact me for more information, especially about the new Beginners and Improvers courses planned for April 2021.
Right from my first French lesson as an 11 year old schoolgirl, I knew that I loved this beautiful, poetic language. I graduated from UCNW Bangor with a Joint Honours Degree in French and Latin, followed by Postgraduate Teacher Training, then in between raising a family, I taught French in North Wales, East Yorkshire and more recently, the Wirral. For quite a few years my family has hosted French students who come to this area to study.
I’ve recently been learning Spanish from scratch, which has given me plenty of insight into language learning for adults.
I have always had an interest in Languages from a very young age and at 11 years old when I started learning Spanish I fell in love with languages more. I continued Spanish and French to GCSE and then A-level before going to university to complete a BA French and Spanish degree. I spent time in Sevilla working as an English Language Assistant before moving to France and working in a hotel.
After earning a 2:1 degree I completed a PGCE Secondary. Throughout my time as a trainee and teacher, I realised, especially in languages that there is too much emphasis on grammar and Exam preparation. That is the reason why I joined Language for Fun, as I believe that languages should be learnt in a stress free, fun way.
I am 23 years old, I am a full time District Nurse, I have been in the healthcare setting since December 2016, working in different hospitals and care homes. I also worked for the ambulance service for one year. I've always been into languages and I lived in Tenerife for a short while when I was younger, where I picked up quickly on the language. I gained a love for Spanish that I had never had before.
I will be working alongside Dan to teach the Spanish classes, helping students to achieve their goals and skills with languages.
