Welcome to Language for Fun and French for Fun in Greenwich and Blackheath. We are a small, locally run language school and we pride ourselves on the personal approach. When you enquire about learning French with us, we talk to you personally and help you choose the best course, from French beginners to French Improvers or Advanced French. We won't just make you sign up online and take your money in advance - we'll let you pay for just one class and then you can decide if you want to carry on.

Our French courses in Blackheath and Greenwich are run in groups that are much smaller than other colleges. We have a highly structured curriculum which has been specifically designed for adult learners who want to learn French for fun as a hobby, and we focus on speaking and communication skills. You don't have to do homework unless you want to, and we are convinced that making friends and enjoying the social side is just as important as the progress you make.

Many of our groups end up as long term friends.

Our French Beginners course is perfect if you've never done any French before, but there are also the right courses for those who have done GCSE French or (O Level of course) and need to dust it off a bit! We go right through with our own bespoke curriculum to Advanced and beyond so there's something for you even if you are a hardened Francophile and want some advanced French conversation classes.

If you can't find the exact French lessons you want advertised on our course listings, do get in touch as we have waiting lists for the less popular courses and also some availability for private French classes.

I'm really proud of our local Blackheath and Greenwich business and I look forward to hearing from you in the hope that we can be a part of your French speaking journey!

Hi! I qualified as a language teacher back in 2000 and I've been teaching Spanish, French and English ever since! I lived and worked in Spain for several years and learned to love the Spanish language and culture, liking nothing better than helping my fellow native English speakers to appreciate it too.

I've taught my language - and the languages I have learned - to the highly educated and the barely literate, to people in their eighties and toddlers still in nappies,to accomplished linguists and the truIy terrified, and I love adapting what I do to the needs and pace of my learners and watching everyone make progress (at their own speed) towards their personal goals, whether that be mastery or an easy-going hobby.

I firmly believe in lifelong language learning and in my free time I'm trying to improve my (basic) Mandarin Chinese and Italian. I may be fluent and qualified to teach French, Spanish and English, but I am still a beginner learner of Chinese and Italian, so I know how daunting learning a language can be and how important it is that the atmosphere and materials in a class are non-threatening, easily accessible, and thoughtfully designed, and what a difference it makes to have an approachable, understanding teacher.

I am confident that you'll love the experience of learning with Language for Fun.

I moved to London in 2010 having travelled to England for the first time when I was 16 when I knew immediately that one day I would settle here! The problem was that I didn’t really speak English that well so I made it my mission to become fluent. I was determined, so I went to university to study English. As part of my degree, I did a year exchange programme and had the opportunity to study in the UK. I was busy making friends that could help me with my English, and I’ve met some amazing people that wanted to learn French and it was perfect for everyone! From this experience, I’ve learnt that the best way to improve language skills is by talking!
After I finished my degree I moved back to England permanently and developped a career as an air steward and trainer fro BA. I love training adults and I love French so I am excited to combine the two with my work for Language for Fun in Greenwich.
I know what it’s like to take on the challenge of learning a new language, and I will be here every step of the way to ensure that you can learn in a fun and supportive environment!
À bientôt!

Hello! Born and raised in France I embraced legal studies after high school. Following my Master in International and European law I was desperate to live in another country. I arrived in London in July 2007, struggled with my poor accent and lack of understanding for a few months before falling in love with the city. I met so many people from many backgrounds speaking a variety of languages. After further legal studies in London I worked in multinational companies liaising with colleagues around the word which I loved.

I am now embracing my passion for languages and trained as a teacher last year. I really enjoyed my teacher training year despite the various lockdowns and uncertainties. Sharing my love for French language and culture is a real thrill! When in class, I always try to put myself into the shoes of my students, remembering how I struggled myself with English when I first moved into the country.

I am personable, encouraging and supportive of my students… you set the pace! I want my students to enjoy their class, feel confident about their progress and have fun with French!

I really hope to take many of you into the wonderful language journey and I look forward to welcome you in my class. A bientôt!
