My name is Alejandra. I grew up in Mexico City, dreaming of travelling and speaking different languages. I came to England 23 years ago to improve my English - I wanted to teach English in my country but ended up teaching Spanish in London! – I fell in love with this amazing city and then I met my English husband.
I have been teaching Spanish for 9 years. When my son started school, I was offered to teach in the after-school club. I have lots of fun in my classes and it is very rewarding to see children learning and absorbing a new language. Alongside this, I ran a small conversation group and one-to-one tutoring. However, I prefer to teach in a small group as it is more dynamic and stimulates conversation
I think the concept of ‘Language for Fun’ is the way forward. Whilst it is good to start young, it should not be forced just to pass exams. After all, you want to learn so you can communicate, meet people and enjoy yourself.
