Welcome to French for Fun with Paula & Emanuel on the Isle of Wight!
We are a small, locally run language school (opened 2019) and we pride ourselves on the personal approach. When you enquire about learning French with us, we talk to you personally and help you choose the best course, from French beginners to French Improvers or Advanced French. We won't just make you sign up online and take your money in advance - we'll let you pay for just one class and then you can decide if you want to carry on.
Lovely, lively French lessons available in several venues across the Island and new learners are welcome to join.
Our French courses are run in groups that are much smaller than other colleges. We have a highly structured curriculum which has been specifically designed for adult learners who want to learn French for fun as a hobby, and we focus on speaking and communication skills. You don't have to do homework unless you want to, and we are convinced that making friends and enjoying the social side is just as important as the progress you make.
Our French Beginners course is perfect if you've never done any French before, but there are also the right courses for those who have done GCSE French or (O Level of course) and need to dust it off a bit! We go right through with our own bespoke curriculum to Advanced and beyond so there's something for you even if you are a hardened French speaker and want some advanced conversation classes.

From a very young age she showed an interest in foreign languages and history, excelling in those subjects in her degree, she became a Tour Leader and Travel Agent which allowed her to travel the world, not only discovering new places but also new cultures and so many interesting people. She is a people's person and thrives when sharing her knowledge with others, be it a foreign language, that special recipe, some salsa moves or just general culture. She loves to cook, dance and travel and she considers herself as a citizen of the world!
After living in several different countries and more than 30 years working in travel and tourism and teaching in French, Spanish, Portuguese, English and Italian, she packed her bags and landed on the Island in the sun-soaked summer of 2018. Why, you ask? Besides missing the sea, Paula wanted to develop new projects and is now hoping to sprinkle some linguistic magic with her own cosy, warm, fun and friendly language school: Wight Languages!
But languages don't come on their own, so there's a world of things she would like you to try, from typical food, traditional dance, singing to karaoke in foreign languages, and enjoy happy moments amongst new friends!
Search through our extensive range of courses to find the perfect course for you! Choose from Beginners, Improvers, Intermediate and Advanced courses.
If you don't see the perfect course for you, scroll to the bottom of the page to find your nearest language schools and ask the local franchisee if they could start a class on a day or time to suit you.
Some of our learners have been with us for 15 years! Be patient with yourself - the process of learning a language is never complete but each term you should be that bit more confident to use your newfound skills and get the most out of your travels.
