Sweet Conversations at Honey House ~ September 2025
A room full of French, fresh pastries, and courage (applause).
Honey House was buzzing with conversation and the smell of croissants and pain au chocolat. Learners played pâtisserie bingo, sequenced a recipe for les langues de chat (cat’s tongue biscuits), and my sister-in-law from Aix-en-Provence bravely led everyone through a baba au rhum recipe.
The room erupted in applause for her courage to share in her 70s, in English, a second language she has barely used.
Moments like these show what language learning can really be: connection, culture, and confidence. Each pastry shared and each verb learned makes French come alive.
We even bought some of Nikki’s dad’s local honey – a sweet reminder that these gatherings are about community as much as language.
