Spanish - Advanced

I was born in Bilbao in the north of Spain, within the Basque country, known for its delicious seafood and green landscapes. You should all visit!!. From a young age, I was fascinated with languages, I remember my aspiration to translate Abba songs into English. I learnt English at school but not being the focus on practical communication, when I arrived to the UK at the age of 18, I found myself at a loss, unable to comprehend much. So I truly sympathise with the struggle trying to understand a language that you speak little.

After completing a Computing Science degree at the University of Greenwich, I worked in the field until the arrival of my children. It was during this period that my interest in languages was rekindled and I started teaching Spanish to children and teenagers, GCSE and A-level, as it gave me flexibility around my family. I have intermittently been tutoring for nearly twenty years. I've tutored people of all ages, finding great satisfaction in seeing them succeed and become fluent communicators.

I feel passionate about the Spanish language, not only because of my origins, but because I deeply believe how enriching learning a second language can be. This passion is passed on to my students and I encourage them to learn for life in order to become confident in their ability to communicate and reach their full potential. Learning a second language is not only enjoyable, it can develop new areas of your mind and strengthen your brain's natural ability to focus.
