Spanish - Intermediate

Have attended Laura’s Spanish classes on Zoom for a year. They are great fun, very enjoyable and instructive. She has a great personality and teaching style! Would thoroughly recommend her classes!!

I have been learning Spanish for a few years now from lessons whilst holidaying in Spain , and learning bits and pieces from YouTube, Spanish Beginners Books, Subtitled movies and Songs etc . I have found that finding a local teacher in the Staffordshire Moorlands was extremely difficult. I had tried a” Languages for fun” group before and found it really helpful but they then closed the group and I couldn’t travel to the other venue. Last year I saw an ad for “Languages for fun” and it was only five minutes away so I was overjoyed. I called Laura and she told me that she could only offer a beginners group at that time but would progress to my level as time went on with her group. So, although I wasn’t a beginner I enrolled on it because I believe all Spanish practice is good practice. Laura said she could do one to one lessons over the internet so I was really happy so I enrolled. I enjoyed my weekly lessons tremendously and found that as well as having a refresher, the style of learning also taught me new words and phrases and a little history of Spain and its customs. I was also able to practise speaking which I have always struggled with. After continuing with the Beginners 2 course my confidence in speaking although much better since being on the courses still felt poor in comparison to the knowledge that I had acquired over the years so I discussed this with Laura. She really understood and very kindly offered me weekly 45 minute private internet conversational lessons to help with my speaking and confidence. Every week we talk about the previous week or life’s events and my confidence is growing so much. Laura is so patient and kind that nothing is too much trouble for her. At each lesson she writes notes which are really helpful to me for revise afterwards so that I can practise new words or phrases . I have times when I stumble or have a mental block in my head but Laura always encourages me. The internet is full of posts saying you can achieve fluency in a few weeks or months and for some this maybe achievable but I believe learning Spanish is a journey which has ups and downs. Laura celebrates with me when I have the Ups and supports me when, in some lessons I seem to have forgotten what I knew the previous lessons!! Every week Im learning more and more and in a relaxed and fun way as we always find something that makes us laugh. I absolutely love learning Spanish with Laura and I would encourage anyone wishing to learn Spanish to contact her. She is an amazing teacher and I want to continue with her for as long as I can. She asked if I would like to put in a review and it's taken me a while to do it because there’s so many good things to say that this is the condensed version !! Finally, I want to ‘Shine a light ‘ on Laura to encourage anyone who is considering learning Spanish to call or email her. From my experience I can absolutely guarantee that you will have a wonderful time learning this beautiful language and beginning your Spanish journey with Laura.

Absolutely loved my on-line Spanish Course with Laura. I learned so much in a friendly and fun environment. I even managed to log on and 'attend' the course when I was in Spain. I'm definitely signing up for the next one and can thoroughly recommend.

I highly recommend learning Spanish with Laura! I have completed several intermediate courses with her and most recently a course focused on the subjunctive tense which was brilliant! She explains things clearly, makes the lessons fun and interesting and always makes sure you are comfortable with the pace and complexity of the lessons. The thing I love most is that the lessons are conversation and question focused but in a relaxed and encouraging environment!

Well the title says Spanish for Fun and it certainly is fun!! Enjoyed the first Zoom course so much I have signed for the second one. They are small groups which certainly helps and the workbook and online resources are so helpful. I just wish there was a session where we could all meet face to face so we could practice speaking more but we do go into small groups to speak on Zoom but would love some face to face time. My Spanish is coming along, I can read it, understand it and translate it, but I find creating conversation a challenge, Hopefully course 2 will speed me further along and I look forward to learning with Laura some more, Laura is friendly and patient, approachable and understanding, she is fun to work with and I so look forward to my Spanish lessons. Thank you Laura for making this challenging experience so enjoyable.
