This course is suitable for learners who have studied the language before and can have a basic conversation about themselves and get by in typical tourist situations.  In order to get the most out of this course, you will have an understanding of how to use verbs in the present tense, and be ready to learn how to use them to talk about the future.  By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Talk about your holidays and holiday plans
  • Talk about where I live and how long you’ve lived there
  • Talk about your family in more detail
  • Say how you feel
  • Express yourself more precisely when asking for things in shops
  • Use the simple future tense to make an order in a shop and talk about your future plans

        Lessons will take place on the following Thursdays, starting on Thursday 15th January, with NO break for February half-term. Here are the dates:
Thursday 15th January, Thursday 22nd January, Thursday 29th January,
Thursday 5th February, Thursday 12th February, Thursday 17th February, Thursday 26th February, 
Thursday 5th March, Thursday 17th March, Thursday 24th March

Bonjour/Ciao/¡Hola! I’m French-Italian and I speak Spanish. Growing up on the French Riviera near Italy sparked my love for languages. I studied Music and Languages then moved to the UK. After successfully using my languages in Banking and IT, I became a language teacher and have been teaching for the past 20 years. I am cheerful, patient and enthusiastic. I am good at helping people of all levels overcome their fear of speaking a foreign language, focusing on building confidence and having fun.

Holidays are spent in France, Italy or Spain with my husband and our two boys, who are brought up bilingually in French but are also learning Spanish and Italian.

Sometimes at home, if we don't want the kids to understand something, we speak in German to each other but unfortunately the kids manage to get the jist of it. We need to learn another "secret language"! On my list is Portuguese and Polish but I haven't started yet.

            I have now done a course of 12 lessons with Mélanie. It has been fantastic, and as a total beginner I feel that the way she runs the course and the material provided - it is FIRST RATE.

If you wish to start to learn French, or improve on it, I strongly recommend joining one of Mélanie's languageforfun courses. It is fun, but also very well structured.
