This course is ideal if you already know a little bit of Italian i.e. greetings, buying food/drinks, the verbs to be and to have, introducing family members, saying what job you do and numbers up to 100.  In this course, you will build up new vocabulary and learn useful language for getting by in and around town, and you will build on short conversations based on real, everyday life.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • ask for and give basic directions,
  • ask what there is in the area
  • ask and say what time things open
  • find out information about bus times
  • order food in a restaurant
  • say what you like and dislike

After this course, you may consider moving to Beginners 3.

Bonjour/Ciao/¡Hola! I’m French-Italian and I speak Spanish. Growing up on the French Riviera near Italy sparked my love for languages. I studied Music and Languages then moved to the UK. After successfully using my languages in Banking and IT, I became a language teacher and have been teaching for the past 20 years. I am cheerful, patient and enthusiastic. I am good at helping people of all levels overcome their fear of speaking a foreign language, focusing on building confidence and having fun.

Holidays are spent in France, Italy or Spain with my husband and our two boys, who are brought up bilingually in French but are also learning Spanish and Italian.

Sometimes at home, if we don't want the kids to understand something, we speak in German to each other but unfortunately the kids manage to get the jist of it. We need to learn another "secret language"! On my list is Portuguese and Polish but I haven't started yet.
