Quote Icon This course is ideal for:

a) those who have done all the Beginners  and Improvers units with Language for Fun;

b)those who are linguistically-minded and have done over twos year on Duolingo or another online course but who now want a HUMAN TEACHER who can EXPLAIN the more complex structures to them

c) those who did French beyond GCSE at school a long time ago and want to go back and start again from a reasonable standpoint.

d) those who have been doing French with another Adult Ed provider for a few years already and want a change of approach.

Having now completed our trip down memory lane using a mixture of the past perfect, the pluperfect and past imperfect tenses, we will now be going back to the future again to talk about things we will maybe one day still do in our lives and what we think/hope we will have done by the time our time is up! Having now finally completed all tenses of the indicative mood, we will start hypothesising about what could have been and what could still be using the conditional mood. However, to relieve all this ‘tense-ness’, we may first do the first few letters of our French A-Z of topics: Architecture, Bread and Cinema! For me , it is enough that all the aforementioned is only completed by the end of the year, not by Easter! After all, there’s all the new vocabulary, cool expressions and fun French factoids about geography, history and culture to take in too… not to mention all the chitchat you can now do in your target language!

About

Since my first of many twinning exchange trips to the Loire Valley in France and to the Ruhr Valley in Germany in my teens, I have always loved foreign languages, cultures and people (and of course the food and drink too). As part of my university studies, I spent eight months in Lorraine on the border with Belgium and Luxembourg, four months in Nordrhein-Westfalen on the border with the Netherlands and four months in the city of Lyon. Having only started learning Spanish as an adult, I have not spent extensive amounts of time in Spain but I have holidayed there as well as in Peru. Before becoming a licencee with Language for Fun, I taught for twelve years in secondary schools, including one in Zambia near the border with French-speaking Congo. I have had many adventures in many Francophone, Germanophone and Hispanophone countries where my language 'skills' have both saved the day AND got me into a bit of hot water! Let me use MY cringeworthy past experiences of making hilarious mistakes save YOU from doing the same.
When I am not teaching or learning languages (I speak some Dutch and Italian now too), I enjoy swimming, reading and walking but I am particularly passionate about the performing arts; I think you will be able to tell this when you meet me! I look forward to meeting YOU!
