Spanish - Improver
This course is ideal for:
those who have done Spanish before and feel fairly confident already with certain basic communication scenarios like shopping, ordering food/drink in a restaurant/ bar, and getting around on foot and by local transport to tourist attractions (we covered all this in Beginners 1 & 2). They will have some knowledge of language structures but know that they need some reinforcement of these before going on to anything more difficult.
In the Improvers 1 unit we go more in-depth with the personal introductions and social situations with local Spanish people – like going out/round for drinks and nibbles and talking about travel and holidays. You will learn some cool uses of the present tense to convey other tenses without actually having to use them. However, you will get a first quick glimpse of the future tense and the main past tense too – just to recognise them. You will also get lots of communications ‘hacks’, pronunciation tips and cultural advice to help you get just that little bit more out of your time in Spain. You will also learn how to book accommodation, travel and events/activities and deal with problems that may crop up on your hols.
Paying for 15 weeks works out cheaper per lesson than paying for 10 lessons… and you’ll learn so much more!

Since my first of many twinning exchange trips to the Loire Valley in France and to the Ruhr Valley in Germany in my teens, I have always loved foreign languages, cultures and people (and of course the food and drink too). As part of my university studies, I spent eight months in Lorraine on the border with Belgium and Luxembourg, four months in Nordrhein-Westfalen on the border with the Netherlands and four months in the city of Lyon. Having only started learning Spanish as an adult, I have not spent extensive amounts of time in Spain but I have holidayed there as well as in Peru. Before becoming a licencee with Language for Fun, I taught for twelve years in secondary schools, including one in Zambia near the border with French-speaking Congo. I have had many adventures in many Francophone, Germanophone and Hispanophone countries where my language 'skills' have both saved the day AND got me into a bit of hot water! Let me use MY cringeworthy past experiences of making hilarious mistakes save YOU from doing the same.
When I am not teaching or learning languages (I speak some Dutch and Italian now too), I enjoy swimming, reading and walking but I am particularly passionate about the performing arts; I think you will be able to tell this when you meet me! I look forward to meeting YOU!
