French - Advanced
This course is ideal for:
those wishing to begin or practice and improve their spoken French.
A NEW beginner 1, Improver 1, Intermediate 1 and Advanced 1 are coming to Guildford soon.

In sessions you will work in pairs, moving from table to table, in a speed dating format. Each week you will work through our structured method and practice speaking French with several different people in pairs. By the end of the first term you will have improved confidence and ability in the French language, made some new friends, and be looking forward to seeing them again after the school break.
Beginner 1 – either complete beginner or rusty school qualification with zero spoken confidence. By the end of the Beginner course (1 year) you will have learnt the basics and be able to get by confidently and hold a simple conversation.
Improver 1 – you can already get by in France ordering food, buying tickets, shopping and asking for directions etc, but you have zero or very little knowledge of how to talk about the future and past. By the end of the Improver course (1yr) you will have vastly expanded your knowledge and ability, you may be slightly confused as you have learnt so much but you can look back and clearly see the progress you have made and are excited about practicing it in France.
Intermediate 1 – You can use future and past tenses and are able to practice french when on holiday, though often ask the French to speak slower or repeat what they have said. By the end of the Intermediate course (1yr) you are chatting in French with your classmates for at least an hour each lesson (speed dating format means you change partner every 10 – 15 minutes) and that confidence and ability is transferring to your communications whilst in France.
Advanced 1 – can comfortably hold a conversation but unsure you are getting it right and need more practice and vocabulary as you often can’t find the right word.
At advanced level you will practice and maintain your level whilst improving vocabulary, understanding, confidence and having a lot of fun along the way. Advanced level goes on forever.

I was born in Spain and grew up in France, DRC, Gabon & Ghana, with a short stint in an English Boarding school thrown in. I moved to London when I was 17 and spent about 10 years living there before moving to Switzerland, followed by Tanzania and then South Africa. I was able to learn how to speak a bit of Swahili when I lived in Tanzania which reignited my love of languages. I eventually moved back to the UK in 2014.
The first word that I learnt in French when I was 3 years old was ‘Chocolat’, which I learnt from our neighbours in rural France. I was educated in French until I was 11 years old, both in France and in West Africa before transferring across to an English education.
I have worked in many different industries from hospitality & tourism to property development. I have spent many years trying to find a career that inspires me with a subject that I feel passionate about. It turns out that I am very good at talking and making conversation but more than anything I just love speaking French and love the French culture (and food), so I realised that I should be sharing this love with other people.
For the last 4 years I have been running French Clubs for primary aged children and have also tutored various family members to help them get through their French GCSE’s, A’Levels or IB’s. I have also helped work colleagues with admin or secretarial work that requires French fluency and communication in France.
I am so grateful for the upbringing that I was given, opening my world to other cultures and understanding the importance of communication in other languages even at its most basic level. I feel that it is such a privilege to share this passion with others.
