This course is suitable for learners who have a high level of French and who are looking forward to the challenge of reading a book in French. This will not be a class where we are studying Voltaire or Classics, we will look at contemporary writers in books where the French is potentially easier to read. By the end of this course you will be able to:
-Read and discuss a French novel fluently while reviewing grammar and learning vocabulary derived from the text,
-Talk naturally about issues related to the text,
-Talk about the history, context, genre, and plot of a novel.
The class takes place in the pub in a relaxed atmosphere where you can speak in French and improve your conversation.
The lesson has been extended to over an hour so you get more opportunity to speak. If you would like to join, please contact [email protected]
Bonjour/Ciao/¡Hola! I’m French-Italian and I speak Spanish. Growing up on the French Riviera near Italy sparked my love for languages. I studied Music and Languages then moved to the UK for 9 months, and several decades later, I'm still here!
After successfully using my languages in Banking and IT, I became a language teacher and have been teaching for the past 20+ years. I am cheerful, patient and enthusiastic. I am good at helping people of all levels overcome their fear of speaking a foreign language, focusing on building confidence and having fun.
Holidays are spent in France, Italy or Spain with my husband and our two boys, who are brought up bilingually in French but are also learning Spanish and Italian.
I sing in my spare time, walk the dog, look after friends' dogs and grow plants, usually fruit and veg. I love foraging so my children are used to eating "spinach" of dubious provenance. I also teach GCSE and A Level to whomever needs a boost with their exams.
