This course is ideal for:

The complete beginner or very, very rusty French learner. You have no (or very little) French, or you’ve done some French before, would like to learn again, and need to work out what your level is. This is a one-off (free) taster for 75 minutes – find out your level, meet the tutor and other learners, and sample the tried-and-tested Language for Fun methods. If you like it, sign up for the Summer term – Beginners 1, Monday evenings at 6.30pm – or join one of our other courses.

About

Bonjour and hola! I'm Romane and I've been a languages tutor since I discovered my passion for teaching in 2014. I learned French from my bilingual parents and spent many summers at my grandparents' place in the Auvergne, soaking up the French culture as well as the sun. I learned Spanish at secondary school for 7 years and knew that I wanted to turn my love of linguistics and extroverted personality into a career. Chatting and making friends has been my motivation for learning languages ever since I was thrust into a maternelle class in Lille at the age of 5; I can't wait to meet you all and watch your confidence grow using the LFF method.

Romane has a lovely teaching style

I take part in the weekly Spanish for Fun class, currently held on Zoom. The class is run by Romane and we are a small group of four ladies. Romane makes the class interesting and absorbing. The material used is really easy to follow. The lessons are staggered sufficiently to allow time for the processing of material. Romane has a lovely teaching style. She is very encouraging to all and will happily repeat anything which is not fully understood. As the course name implies it makes learning both enjoyable and fun. I look forward to Tuesday mornings now.

‘I had tried to learn Spanish for a number of years but can honestly say that learning with ‘Language for Fun’ has taught me much more than any other method. My teacher, Romane, is lively and enthusiastic and makes each lesson interesting and entertaining. Although we are encouraged to be interactive I never feel pressured or intimidated. I am so pleased at how much I have progressed with ‘Language for Fun’ I have no problem in recommending this way of learning to anyone who may be interested.
