someone who is very confident with the basics and their grasp of grammar, who is nearly fluent but who wishes to improve their speaking skills and fill in the gaps with their knowledge of French. By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • use extensive vocabulary to discuss typical everyday situations naturally
  • understand authentic spoken French at near normal speed
  • handle authentic role play situations fluently
  • speak naturally using idiom
  • understand and use advanced grammar

After this course, learners typically move on to the next chapter of Une Année en France and after the 5 chapters, they move on to the Book Club programme.

        Lessons will take place on the following Fridays:
17th January, 22nd January, 14th February, 28th February, 7th March, 21st March, 28th March, 4th April and 11th April 2025.

Bonjour/Ciao/¡Hola! I’m French-Italian and I speak Spanish. Growing up on the French Riviera near Italy sparked my love for languages. I studied Music and Languages then moved to the UK. After successfully using my languages in Banking and IT, I became a language teacher and have been teaching for the past 20 years. I am cheerful, patient and enthusiastic. I am good at helping people of all levels overcome their fear of speaking a foreign language, focusing on building confidence and having fun.

Holidays are spent in France, Italy or Spain with my husband and our two boys, who are brought up bilingually in French but are also learning Spanish and Italian.

Sometimes at home, if we don't want the kids to understand something, we speak in German to each other but unfortunately the kids manage to get the jist of it. We need to learn another "secret language"! On my list is Portuguese and Polish but I haven't started yet.
