Do you feel like you have a lot of French in your head, and can read and translate confidently, but can’t get sentences to come out of your mouth quite as fluently as you would like? This limited-size class (maximum 4) is definitely for you.
This Advanced-level class is ideal for those who have a reasonable standard of French (acquired either in an educational setting or by living in a French-speaking country) and are pretty comfortable with a variety of tenses. We’ll use real-life conversations to strengthen your grammar skills, build your vocabulary and improve your confidence when speaking – all while laughing and learning together! Lessons will be fun and friendly. We’re looking to develop real fluency at this level – but don’t worry if you’re not quite there yet. That’s what these conversation-based classes are designed to help you achieve.
This term we’re having themed conversations about life in France. We’re delving into our French dictionaries to find useful new phrases, and then having real-life conversations to put them into practice. And for those who love grammar, or need a refresh, we’re spending a little time on grammar each week, without it becoming our main focus.
Classes are primarily face-to-face. Come along in person if you’re comfortable doing so, or join us on Zoom as a one-off (if you’re not well, working late, or on holiday!) Give us a call if you’ve got any concerns or questions!

I’ve always had a passion for languages and words! When I was a pre-teen, I decided to teach myself Russian using an old language book from my local library (I didn’t get too far, though!). Family holidays in France and a wonderful French pen-pal in Brittany sparked my lifelong love for French. This led to studying in Paris, marrying a bilingual French/English speaker, and having three kids with dual nationality. Helping others go from feeling flustered to fluent is something I truly enjoy and feel privileged to do for a living. I’ll never forget what it’s like to be a beginner myself, tongue-tied and unsure (I’m currently trying my hand at Romanian, so I know the feeling well!). What I love about Language for Fun is how its methods build confidence in speaking the language from day one, all without putting learners on the spot.
