those who live locally and who want to attend most classes in person but who know they will be away for a couple of lessons and still want the opportunity to attend these online. It is for those who either have no prior knowledge of Spanish or those who did  Spanish at school a long time ago and who have forgotten almost everything. In this unit we will cover numbers 1-100, greetings, enquiries about general wellbeing, polite phrases, personal introductions, basic personal info and shopping for simple picnic/breakfast items.

If this course is the right timing but the wrong level for you, please know that, as this class is not yet ‘on the go’, it can be any level or language I want it to be. Please enquire anyway because I will start this course at the language and level of those who are the most keen. FYI Beginners 1, 2 and 3 all cover the kind of grammar (but not necessarily topics) that I did with Year 7/8s when I was a secondary school teacher, Beginners Refresher and Improvers 1 levels were Year8/9  grammar level, Improvers 2 and 2+ were Years 9/10 and Improvers 3 was Year 10/11 and Intermediate Introduction was a good top set Year 11.

Beginner - Level 1 Course Information
Starting Date: 09/05/2024
Lesson Duration: 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Ideal schedule = Ten consecutive lessons with the last one on 11/07/2024), then a contingency/catch-up lesson on 18/07/2024 if needed. However, I am aware that the summer term is a really difficult one for people who have already booked various holidays, sports events, flower shows, weddings etc already and so I am happy to make the lesson dates the ten best lessons from the starting date up to and including 01/08/2024 for those who enquire/sign up! At time of typing this, next term I am also free on three other evenings (between 7pm and 9.45pm on Mondays, between 7.30and 9.45pm on Wednesdays and between 7.45 and 9.45pm on Thursdays) to teach either French or Spanish at ANY level (I just advertise new lessons as Beginners 1 as that is what most people want). I am also free at many points during the daytime Monday to Friday. Please feel free to enquire about EITHER language, any day, any time. I am limited by the LFF website edition as to how many classes I can advertise in any one term. I also can teach German but not with LFF who don't offer it. .

About

Since my first of many twinning exchange trips to the Loire Valley in France and to the Ruhr Valley in Germany in my teens, I have always loved foreign languages, cultures and people (and of course the food and drink too). As part of my university studies, I spent eight months in Lorraine on the border with Belgium and Luxembourg, four months in Nordrhein-Westfalen on the border with the Netherlands and four months in the city of Lyon. Having only started learning Spanish as an adult, I have not spent extensive amounts of time in Spain but I have holidayed there as well as in Peru. Before becoming a licencee with Language for Fun, I taught for twelve years in secondary schools, including one in Zambia near the border with French-speaking Congo. I have had many adventures in many Francophone, Germanophone and Hispanophone countries where my language 'skills' have both saved the day AND got me into a bit of hot water! Let me use MY cringeworthy past experiences of making hilarious mistakes save YOU from doing the same.
When I am not teaching or learning languages (I speak some Dutch and Italian now too), I enjoy swimming, reading and walking but I am particularly passionate about the performing arts; I think you will be able to tell this when you meet me! I look forward to meeting YOU!
